Welcome to Moderno, our second stop for our zomatoXnutriaAsia Tagaytay Food Crawl. A newly opened Filipino restaurant located along the Magallanes Square. The restaurant is jam-packed that time because of the ongoing seminar so we decided to stay outside. Well, on a positive note we were able to feel the cold weather of Tagaytay while having some dishes from Moderno.
Dilis Rice (P180)
If only I can have this everyday for breakfast haha! The fried rice is already good on its own, topped with crunchy dilis, salted eggs, tomatoes and strips of green mangoes. Forget about the carbs and just enjoy this dish with your bare hands.
Moderno Peri-Peri (535)
Kudos to Moderno, I must say that their Peri-Peri is my favorite dish so far. The price is reasonable enough because you get a whole chicken sliced into half. Take note the chicken is “mataba” and “siksik” marinated with chili, lemon and herbs then grilled. Tender, juicy and fall-off-the bone chicken! Extra rice please!
Pininyahang Tahong (P310)
A healthy and unique tahong (mussels) dish with pineapple. Yes, it was presented in an eye-catching way but sadly the mussels are overcooked that it turns tough and tasteless. 🙁
Bacon and Mushroom Burger (P185)
The patty is made from 100% pure beef, juicy and satisfying. I love the strips of bacon on top as if they are calling my name haha! The bun is soft and it doesn’t turn soggy afterwards which is a plus for me! Served with few pieces of fries on the side.
Shakes (Medium P90/Grande 120)
We tried three flavors of shakes from Moderno, mango, avocado and blueberry. All were made from real fruits blended with ice cream. I love that most of them are not too sweet, I prefer the avocado a little more push on the fruit rather than the ice cream taste.
Below are some interesting Bulalo dishes from Moderno’s menu that I would also love to try. I am bit curious how will it taste like.
- Bulalo ng Sulu (P520)
A black colored beef soup of Tausug from Sulu made from beef shanks and marrow bones it is tastier because it has more spices and burnt coconut
- Bulalong Pochero (P520)
Beef stew complimented by the sweetness of the saba banana and a unique sour blend brought in by the tomato sauce
- Bulalong Bisaya (P520)
A Cebuano beef soup made from beef shanks and marrow bones in rich, thick and peppery broth
