Situated at the lower level of Estancia Mall in Pasig City, this restaurant with a homey vibes will give you the taste of Spain in an instant. I have weakness for brick walls interior,  for me it gives out a romantic feels do you agree?

Bistro Madrid

Our unstoppable adventure with food led us in discovering Lolea, a ready-made Sangria in a bottle. It is a perfect refreshing drink for parties and any gatherings. As of the moment, only two variants are available in the Philippines which can be bought from Bistro Madrid or Terry’s Bistro.

Lolea Red/ Lolea Nº1

This one comes in a red color and red bottle as well, an artisanal sangria made with high quality Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon red wines, fresh orange and lemon juice, and a touch of cinnamon. Serve it very cold, accompanied with any citrus and you’re good to go.

Bistro Madrid

Lolea White/LoleaNº2

Another one is the white sangria, made with high quality Macabeo and Chardonnay white wine, fresh orange and lemon juice, and a touch of vanilla. It is very light and refreshing, you can actually mistaken it for a fruit juice.

Lolea Sangria is not pasteurized in order to conserve all the characteristics of the wine and to give it a fizzy touch for a more enjoyable drink.  It is available in two sizes, the big bottle (P725/750ml)with reasalable top and the small bottle (P190/200ml) with a pop top. Aside from the unlimited Lolea Sangria that day, we were able to feast on some of Bistro Madrid’s dishes.

Spanish Coldcuts and Cheese Platter (100g) (P395)

Who doesn’t love digging into a feast of cheese and cured meat while having a sangria on the side. The platter is composed of  Jamόn Serrano, Chorizo Pamplona, Salchichon De Vic, Manchego Cheese, Mahόn, Arzύa Ulloa. My top pick is the freshly cut Jamόn Serrano paired with the Manchego cheese.

Bistro Madrid

Chopi-Fritos (P310)

Next in line was the Chopi-Fritos, a classic appetizer of deep-fried baby squid sprinkled with melted cheese accompanied with vinegar escabeche sauce. This seafood creature will not give your mouth a hard time, it’s easy to chew and very addicting.

Bistro Madrid

The Perfect Tortilla with Gambas Al Ajillo (P380

JC Terry’s modern version of the traditional spanish omelette. This one’s filled  with Madrid traditional shrimps and garlic flavors . Seriously satisfying on its own.

Bistro Madrid

Croquetas De Jamon Serrano, Pollo Y setas Silvestres (P295/4pcs.)

Lightly breaded and fried bechamel fritters that include delicious Jamόn Serrano, organic chicken and wild mushrooms. These babies are a sure hit as an appetizer or even an afternoon snack with a glass of Lolea Sangria.

Bistro Madrid

Colgados de Toledo
Hanging Tapas, Toledo Style

The Hanging Tapas were such crowd-pleaser, jam-packed with flavors and char-grilled to perfection. We had it in three kinds:

Terry’s Butifarra Sausage (P345)
A classic Barcelona sausage served with your choice of diced potatoes or sauteed white beans, both tossed in Alioli sauce.

El Buey Feliz (P345)
Perfectly seasoned grilled ribeye cubes served with “Española” sauce and your choice of onion rings or deep-fried potatoes drizzled with Alioli sauce. Another Bistro Madrid Original.

Piggy High (P345)
Watching the Chorizo Terry on fire (flambéed with Sherry brandy) in a pig shaped pot was very entertaining. It is served with a lentil stew that will keep you coming back.

Bistro Madrid Gran Paella (P650)

The rice is cooked perfectly with dense flavors of safron-based stock and seafood.  You can see few pieces of tuna belly, shrimps and mussels on top. The flavors come together nicely, by the way don’t forget to scrape the bottom of the paellara which has the nice crumb of socarrat.

Bistro Madrid

Lamb Shank in Chilindron Sauce (P650)

I’m sorry but I’m not a fan of Lamb but this one from Bistro Madrid is a must-try. Chilindron is a Spanish culinary symbol from the Aragon Region, dominated by roasted red peppers, shallots, paprika, Jamon Serrano, olive oil and a full-bodied red wine reduction.

Bistro Madrid

Patorillo Caldereta (P380)

A unique and exciting stew made of baby goat’s trotters, Jamόn Serrano and garbanzos served with your preference of steamed or garlic rice. I skipped this one because I’m not yet ready to eat a goat’s meat huhu!
