Calling all Foodies!! In case you missed the World Street Food Congress last year, this is your chance to open up your mind, eyes and palates for this year’s theme “Re-imagine possibilities”. Imagine with over 30 masters hawkers and pop up stall from 13 countries (Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, Taiwan, USA, Philippines, Malaysi, Vietnam, India, China, Mexico and Germany) will occupy the whole stretch of MOA, Concert Grounds from May 31 up to June 04, 2017. This year’s Filipino specialties will feature six cities and regions from Davao City, Bicol, Pampanga, Iloilo, Ilocos and Bacolod. Personally curated and checked by WSFC founder KF Seetoh.
Meet Chef Sau del Rosario, the team captain for this year. He will shepherd the Philippine contingent and mentor local cooks in the street food industry.Chef Sau formed an organisation of chef’s called Culinaria Pampanga, with a mission to protect, promote, and reintroduce Pampanga food to the region. He also wish to form an association comprising farmers, producers and manufacturer to take the local food industry forward.
Some of the rare and wonderful street food gems you should try at World Street Food Congress are Soi Lum (chrysanthemum broth motchi from Guanzhou), Coffe Pork Rib Burgers (from Singapore), Claypot Apom Manis (from Malaysia), Oh Ah Jian (oyster omelette Taiwan style) and back from popular demand is BBQ Pork Ribs (from Bali) and Chocolate Martabak (from Indonesia).
Watch out for Antony Bourdain, who will give the latest updates on his Bourdain Market in New York. Greg Drescher, VP, Strategic Initiatives and Industry Leadership, Culinary Institute of America, will give the keynote speech. Michelin-star chefs, Malcom Lee from Candlenut Singapore will share his journey since his involvement with WSFC15 and Andy Yang from Thailand, known for healthy Thai food using organic local produce.
