Right before the holidays we (with my hubby as always) were invited by Zomato and Commercenter for a #CommercenterMomsDayOut2. I am not yet a mom but I am thankful that I had the chance to experience this awesome day with some of my mommy friends. Anyway, I will share our whole trip to Commercenter in another post. We were treated to a Japanese lunch at Kessaku which are just located at the ground floor of Commercenter Alabang.
The dining area is quite dark and it was really cold during our visit. I had to request to lower down the AC for a while so we can fully enjoy our food. While waiting, we were served with complimentary crispy anchovies in a sweet and spicy coating.
California Maki (P265)
Out of all the dishes that we have tried my personal favorites were the maki and aburi. Each pieces comes in a nice presentation, mouth-watering indeed! We had the California Maki with shredded kani on top, every ingredients in this maki goes well together. The Sunset Roll maybe quite pricey for 6 pieces but c’mon it has Salmon, kani, cucumber, unagi and cream cheese. You will definitely love this plate despite its price. I fell in love with Kessaku’s Salmon Belly Aburi , it was so good. A melt-in-your-mouth torched salmon belly with scallions and ebiko.

Ebi Tempura (P570/5pcs.)
I love tempura, but I find their version a little bit bland. The batter was too thick, it overpower the shrimp. I guess I have to give it a second shot.
Tori Nanbanzuke (P250)
Next in line was the Tori Nanbanzuke , a boneless chicken fried to perfection served with vinaigrette sauce. I enjoyed every bite of it. I won’t last for a day without rice, I’m thankful that they served us with their Angus Prime Chahan. The rice bowl is very tasty on its own. You won’t be needing any viands at all. One order is already good for sharing.

Yakitori Sampler (P400)
We also had their Yakitori Sampler which consists of Grilled Chicken Skin, Chicken Yakitori, Beef Wagyu Cubes, Tuna and Beef Skewers. Among the 5, the wagyu cubes is my personal favorite.
Crispy Banana with Mango Ice Cream (P165)
I find their dessert too ordinary but it was satisfying.
Overall, I enjoyed their food but they need some improvement on their service. Would I back at Kessaku? Definitely yes!
