Savour with nine neighbourhoods that offers a variety of flavours and quality cuisines around the world at High Street Cafe located at the second floor of Shangr-La at the Fort.
The genuine smiles from the staffs will make you feel comfortable and they will even help you out if you’re not familiar with some of their dishes. A buffet restaurant that will worth your money and experience.
Apart from having the only buffet in Manila with a full rotisserie station, the restaurant will satisfy your sweet tooth as they have beautiful desserts that will leave you drooling.
We sampled some of their signature dishes that are included in the buffet. Again, these are just some of their dishes that are worth trying!
For starter, we we’re served with Tuna Ceviche. Freshness of tuna is not a question! The best Tuna Ceviche that I have tried so far, it melts in your mouth. As soon as the acid from the limes hits the tuna it will begin to cook it. I like the idea of adding some corn and nuts because it gives you something to chew on.
Mango Crab Salad
Lumps of crab meat, avocado, mango, lemon olive oil dressing and roasted bell pepper cream served in glass container. I’m a fan of avocado and crab meat so this salad suited my taste, the only thing I noticed is the green leafy veggies added some bitterness to the salad. Well, you can always adjust it according to your taste just tell the waiter.
Simple, fresh and seriously amazing. These pieces of bread were delicious especially the one with prosciutto.
The scene-stealer among the dishes that we tried, get some unlimited lobster-lovin at the High Street Cafe. I don’t mind being messy at all just to get all the meat inside this gorgeous creature. To make it flavorful you may add some sauces like chili dip, dill capers, mayonnaise or cocktail sauce which you can find at the seafood bar.
My self-control was tested when the Ebi Tempura plate landed in front of me. I had this voice inside my head that keeps telling me “hello allergies!” but it was so good and I can’t blame myself at all haha! The batter is light and crunchy and best paired with the wasabi mayo.
Famous Curry Laksa
I just can’t get enough of High Street Cafe’s Famous Curry Laksa, the most satisfying Laksa that I have tried in the Metro. Every ingredients blends well with each other. The highlight of this dish is its soup, rich coconut curry soup infused with a taste of sea. Warming and comforting, finishing one bowl will leave a smile on your face.
Dong Bao Pork
It’s made with pork belly, half fat and half lean meat, it has the “melt in your mouth” texture without any greasiness. Scrape off the bottom part (rice) of the clay pot, it is where all the flavors are hiding.
Any Filipino feast is incomplete without having a Lechon! Here at High Street Cafe you can enjoy their lechon any day within their buffet hours. Make sure to come early if you want the skin still crunchy.
If I will rate this Rump Steak from 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest. I will definitely gave this meat a five-star without any hesitations. Perfectly cooked and well-seasoned! I can’t find the exact words to describe it. Don’t ever think twice of getting this or else you’ll be sorry haha!
24 hrs slow braised beef, so imagine how tender it is. Served with their best-tasting mashed potato. Indeed a perfect match!
Molten Lava Cake
It deserves the “To Die For” tagline! The cake is made with tablea with a warm oozing chocolate and banana pieces in the center paired with ricotta orange ice cream. Sinful but not too sweet. Every spoonful feels like heaven! Every bits of berries on the side will lead you to a happy ending.
