QC@75: All About Eastwood Mall

Quezon City is the hometown of my mother, despite that I have been here many times I admit that there are still part of it that I’m not familiar with. When we were invited to joined QC City Tour in celebration of their 75th Diamond Jubilee Anniversary, we got too excited. We will be exploring Quezon City for the whole day, sounds fun!?

Hubby and I were assigned to tour around Eastwood Mall and Ateneo University.

Our trip started with some history and facts about QC:

✔️ It was named after Manuel L. Quezon, second President of the Philippines , who founded and developed the city

✔️It is the largest and most populous city in Metro Manila

✔️Manuel Quezon was buried at the Quezon Memorial Circle. This famous landmark is 55 meters in height – equivalent to the former Philippine president’s age when he died. (I think we should explore this soon!?)

Our first stop was the Eastwood Mall, nestled  at the heart of Eastwood City. We’ve been here once (few years ago) just along the fountain area.

Are you curious what we did at Eastwood Mall?

Well, prepare your eyes and stomach haha!?

imageCUPCAKE LAB CAFETERIA

We started our tour by trying out this newly opened cupcake store, I was surprised by their red and black combination. Most of the cupcake shops that I know looks girly, with pinkish and pastel interiors. They don’t just offer sweets, they have rice meals too. They made a twist in their menu by adding Filipino and Mexican famous food.

Cay Cuasay -owner

As we entered their small shop, these food (rice meals, cupcakes and cookies) are waving on me, as if they are telling me “C’mon eat me!”☺️

They just opened a week ago. According to Ms. Cay -the owner, this is their 3rd branch. She invited us to  sit outside and wait for the most exciting part of our trip. FOOD TASTING!!?

Chicken Burrito

There’s something about their burrito that sets it apart from other types of burritos. Instead of using the usual ingredients as its meat, they used deep fried crispy pork belly dish that is also known as “Bagnet”. Soo Yummy!? I was a little impressed that the whole thing doesn’t fall apart as soon as I unwrap it. I just forgot what’s the name of their dressing but it really goes well with their burrito.

If you’re tired with your ordinary fries, try their cheesy fries topped with Sisig. Guess what?I’m asking for extra rice haha! Make sure to consume it while it’s hot to avoid the greasiness of sisig.

They served the churros first, but I decided to made it my dessert. Sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar, eventhough it’s already cold its bread was still soft. Best served with tablea or tsok nut dip.

Picture perfect

Looking alone with this picture while writing this makes me crave for their churros!? And by the way, you should try their cupcakes too! I chose their green tea cupcake (i love anything with green tea), the taste of Matcha green tea perfectly blend with the sweetness of the white chocolate soy ganache. They have more than 10 flavors that you can choose from.

WALL OF FAME

Next stop, Eastwood Wall of Fame located near their Cinemas. Where all pictures of famous artist (some of them are not in my generation?)  are in black and white.

image

WALK OF FAME

If you will notice, as you walked through the Mall stars are scattered on the ground. If Hollywood has the famous Walk of Fame, of course we  Filipinos have our own version too. These are the name of the artists who made an exceptional contributions in their own (entertainment) field.

image

At first, I thought they are all showbiz “artista”. But upon seeing other names like Michael Martinez (ice skating) and Efren Reyes, Jr. (billiards), I realized some of them made a big contribution to Philippines.

Kaaliw!?They are pet-friendly shopping center too!? As long as your pet is on leash and secure your pet pass at the concierge, you may take a walk with your pet or even bring them inside the mall. Cool!?Usually dog owners like me would also want to bring our furbabies to the mall.
imageCRAFT COFFEE REVOLUTION

To pump up our energy because our day is not over yet, we tried the newly opened Craft Coffee Revolution. They aim to change our taste bud from the usual taste of our caffeine drink. They uses slow roasted coffee beans which can really give you a strong kick to keep you active the whole day. They outsource most of their coffee beans from other countries such as Brazil.

I haven’t tried their desserts which looks too beautiful!?

image

I have seen their other branch which looks homey for me. This time it’s different, their interior consists mostly of metal works. From the ceilings, table, chairs and even their railings from the second floor.image

With Mr. Peter Ong-Operations Managee

We tried their Iced Mocha. You can tell it’s strong but without the bitterness taste. I was trying to mix it well with the choclate syrup in the bottom of my cup. But according to Mr. Peter, we should try sipping it with our straw to balance the taste of the coffee and the chocolate. It works!? Their chocolate syrup is addicting!image

EASTWOOD MALL OPEN PARK

What differs Eastwood  mall from other malls?

They have their open park where children can run freely, go walking with your pets and watch the dancing fountain.

As a dog lover, I was strucked by this sculpture of a dog with his master. It was made by Seb Chua as a tribute to the native Philippine dog, the Aspin.

GREEN PASTURES

Eating healthy is becoming a trend already. Our last stop at Eastwood is to try Green Pastures. They uses organic ingredients from farms, ranches and fisheries in the Philippines.

image
All green

You may even watch how your food was prepared through their open kitchen set up. imageWood and greens perfectly goes well to create a relaxing ambience. They also change their menu frequently  to have different varieties of their products. They have their house made cheese, seafood (gluten free), D.I.Y (Do It Yourself) Salad Bar, whole grain bowls, pasta, grills and many more.
imageOne of their healthy reminders inside their store. Hmmm… True!?

image

I tried eating organic before but this one caught my attention. Their Mushroom and Kale Paella was served in a big skillet and the colors was so inviting. It’s a combination of Ifugao Heirloom rinawon red rice, fried ouster mushroom, saffron aioli and paprika oil. I thought the mushroom was pieces of meat. Now, I realized that eating organic can taste really good.? Can’t wait to be back to try their other bestseller.image

Our QC tour did not end at Eastwood alone. See our next destination, the home of Blue Eagles!?

Thanks to QC Blog Venture!;)
